Now that Season 3 of Suits is well under way, we’re lucky enough to have Harvey Specter and Mike Ross grace our screens once again with their quick wit, over-the-top banter and of course, their incredible wardrobe.
The series (if you’ve been living under a rock) is about a legendary Manhattan lawyer, Harvey Specter who hires a prodigal associate, Mike Ross, who turns out to be a not-so-legal lawyer. Together, this tag team fights cases in a way that puts Batman & Robin to shame.
The predictability and somewhat idealistic plot lines are what makes some audiences revel and others cringe, however what the show does perfectly portray is the notion of dressing for success. In the first season, Mike asks Harvey “Why does it matter how much I spend on a suit?” in which Harvey quickly snaps “People respond to how you dress so like it or not this is what you have to do”.
Harvey, being the boss is always decked out in a three-piece suit that’s tailored to perfection. His suit choices are a reflection of his seniority and power at the firm and there’s enough flair in the suit details to suggest that he is at a stage in his career where he is at liberty to do as he pleases. Harvey’s signature look is a jacket with wide peak lapels paired with a spread collar shirt, Windsor-knotted tie and a pocket square. Whilst Mike Ross’ look is by no means shabby, his outfits are in complete contrast to Harvey. Mike’s signature look is a slim fitting suit with a narrow lapel and skinny tie. Finally, his messenger bag and push bike completes his whole pseudo corporate-hipster get-up.
Here’s the low down on both Harvey and Mike’s suits if you’re going to design your own custom suit:
