How do I make a purchase?

Shopping at Joe Button is simple and just like any other online shop. The only difference is you get more options when it comes to style and sizes. Once you’ve selected the product that you want to buy, you can choose an “off the rack” standard size and then select a length – short, regular or long – or you can input your own custom measurements at a later stage by clicking on “Enter my measurements”. In terms of style, you can either choose the garment exactly as you see it in the picture or personalise it a little by clicking on “customise”.

Is everything on your website custom made?

Yes – everything except our accessories are custom made – even the standard sized stuff. That’s why it takes 3-4 weeks for your order to reach you.

Do customisations cost extra?

No. Since every garment is custom made, nothing costs extra!

How does Joe Button make premium quality custom suits and shirts at such a low price?

Custom-made clothing is usually expensive as you are paying a tailor to provide you with a premium quality service. That said, an off-the-rack garment should not be so expensive.  The makers of these standardized suits and shirts are mainly established companies who use the perception of “traditional craftsmanship” to justify the high prices of their shirts.  In reality, most of these companies outsource production overseas, employing low cost labour and earning super-sized profits.

At Joe Button we let you be your own custom tailor. So whilst we use traditional age-old tailoring methods to create your own suit or shirt, we lower our costs by outsourcing the design, measurement and fabric selection to you. By lowering our costs, we can provide a premium quality custom garment to you at a lower price.

Do you have any stores?

Yes. We currently have one showroom in Sydney. We do regular pop-up events around Australia so join our mailing list to be the first ones to find out about our upcoming events.

What type of fabrics are your shirts and suits made of?

All of our shirting fabrics are 100% cotton and all of our suit fabrics are made from 100% Australian Merino Wool. We don’t sell any poly-blends and most importantly, we hand pick each and every fabric to make sure you get the latest looks and best quality.

Where are Joe Button suits and shirts made?

We partner with two different tailors in Hong Kong and Shanghai with over 50 years of experience in the bespoke garmenting industry.

How do I look after my Joe Button shirt and suit?

Shirts: if washing at home, undo all the buttons and turn your Joe Button shirt inside out before washing. Do not wash in water temperatures over 40°C / 105°F. Do not tumble-dry your shirt as this may cause it to shrink or wear.

Suits: always take it to the dry-cleaner

Will my shirts shrink?

Our shirts are made of 100% cotton, so you should expect them to shrink slightly after the first few washes. We take this into consideration when making your dress shirts so please keep this in mind when you first try it on.

Will my measurement and design profiles be saved for future orders?

Yes! And this is one of the best things about Joe Button. You only have to input your measurements on your first order. Once you have your Joe Button account is setup, your design profiles and measurements will be saved for easier ordering next time.

Is my personal information kept private?

Any personal information you provide us is kept absolutely private and confidential. We will not disclose, rent or sell this information to any third parties unless required by law. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for further information.

Joe Button may use your contact details to inform you of new arrivals, promotions or sales. If you don’t want to receive these updates, you can unsubscribe by logging into your account and editing your email preferences.

Yes! Head over to Gift Certificates for more information.

Which standard size should I choose?

Joe Button shirt sizes are standard Australian sizes  To convert this to a size that you’re familiar with, simply visit our Sizing page to see our conversion chart.

If you have any questions on sizing or fit, just pop us an email at sydney@joebutton.com

Do I need to visit a tailor to take my measurements?

Absolutely not. Anyone can take the measurements – all you need to do is follow our step-by-step instructions. If you don’t trust your friend or yourself, you do have the option of printing off our measurement instructions to take to your local tailor.

I fit a standard size but the sleeves and/or pants are always a little too long/short. What size should I choose?

You can either choose to measure yourself or you can just pick one of our standard sizes and choose the length that suits you.

How do I know that my measurements are accurate?

Make sure you follow our instructions when measuring and if you’re unsure, you can speak to someone on our live chat or pop us an email at sydney@joebutton.com for further assistance. That said, if your garment doesn’t fit you the way you like it, we will cover the cost of alterations up to $50 or visit us at our showroom in Sydney and we’ll fixt it for you free of charge.

What units do I use to input my measurements?

You can measure yourself in centimeters (metric) or inches (imperial). Remember to select which one on the sizing page before you input or alter your measurements.

The measurements I'm taking of myself differ to my off the rack clothing. Have I made a mistake?

Trust the tape measure! Off the rack sizing varies a lot and is usually not an indication of what your actual measurements are. Go with the measurement on your measuring tape as opposed what size you are when you buy a pair of jeans.

I've lost/gained a bit of weight since my last suit. Can I change the measurements in my account?

Absolutely. All you need to do is log into your account and your last set of measurements should be there. From here on, all you need to do is change whichever measurement you think has changed and save this.

Can I have multiple measurements in one profile?

No - not at this stage.

Do you offer international shipping?

Yes – we offer FREE INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING for all orders over $200.

There is also the option of getting your order expedited at an extra charge.

How long will it take for my order to be delivered?

It usually takes about 3-4 weeks from the time you order to receive your Joe Button package. Please note that orders placed during peak periods may take longer.

Can I track my order?

As a registered Joe Button user, you can view the status of your order which will be updated throughout the production and delivery process.

Do I have to pay any taxes and customs duties?

This will depend on where your order is being shipped. Most countries including USA, Australia and South Korea allow free trade over the Internet and will not charge any taxes or duties for small packages entering the country.

If you are shipping to a Delivery Duty Unpaid country, the price of your final purchase will be exclusive of all taxes and duties. As the recipient, you are then liable for all import duties, customs and local sales taxes levied by the country you are shipping to. Unfortunately, we have no control over these charges and cannot tell you what the cost of this would be as customs and import duties vary widely for different countries. Please check with your local customs office for current charges so you are aware of what you may have to pay to release your orders.

How do I pay for my shirt?

We accept Visa and MasterCard and we’re currently working on more payment options which should be ready soon. We do not accept cash or cheques.

All prices are quoted in Australian dollars.

Is it safe to use my credit card at Joe Button?

Your personal online security is very important to us at Joe Button. We use 256-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption technology to process your personal and credit card information through our secure checkout system. This encrypts and protects the data you send to us over the internet. If SSL is enabled, you will see a padlock at the top of your browser and you can click on this to find out information about the SSL digital certificate registration.

Can I amend or cancel my order after I’ve already checked out?

If you need to make changes or cancel an order, please email us at sydney@joebutton.com and provide us with your order number as well as a detailed description of amendments or instructions for cancellation. We cannot cancel or amend any orders after 3 hours of your initial checkout as your shirt will already be in production.

The shirt / suit I received does not match the one I ordered. What should I do?

If the suit or shirt you received does not match what you ordered, send us an email at sydney@joebutton.com within 3 days of receipt. Provide us with your order number and a detailed description of the discrepancy (including photographs, if applicable). We will then ask you to send the garment back to us. Once we receive your suit or shirt and conclude that it is an error on our part, we will re-make it and send it back to you free of charge.

Please make sure any returned shirts are sent in their original condition. We will not accept any returns that have already been used.

My suit doesn't fit me properly. What should I do?

If you believe that you need alterations on your garments, you can email us at sydney@joebutton.com or book an appointment at our Sydney showroom so that one of our stylists can help you determine exactly how your clothes should fit. We can then help you decide exactly what changes need to be made. All garments brought into our showroom for alterations are performed in-house and are included in the price of your suit.

If you cannot come to our Sydney showroom, we can offer you alterations credit of up to $50 for suits and $25 for shirts within 20 days of receiving your Joe Button garment at your local alterations / tailor shop. Simply email us the alterations you require as well as the receipt of your alterations and we will reimburse the amount back to you.

How much do you reimburse for local alterations?

We cover up to $50 for suits and $25 for shirts. Please make sure you email your receipt to us within 20 days of receiving your order.

Can I exchange my shirt?

As Joe Button suits and shirts are custom designed and custom fitted to each individual, we cannot accept any returns for exchange.

Can I request a remake?

If we believe that your garment is unalterable, we will process a remake for you. You will need to either come into our showroom and show us the issue or email us a few photos so that we can see how your garment looks in order to correct the problem. We reserve the right to deny a request for a remake if the issue with the garment can be fixed through local alterations. Furthermore, garments cannot be remade based on a change of preference in style or customisation.

Once your remake has been processed, we will need you to return the first garment back to us in its original condition within 20 days of receiving it. For international returns, please declare the contents as "returned clothing" and declare a minimal value to avoid being charged customs duties. Please note that you will be responsible for any return shipping charges.

Please note due to fabric supply, some garments may not be re-made in the same fabric and an alternative may need to be chosen.
