It started with our deep frustration at being unable to find a fitted shirt to wear to work each day. Everything in stores was either made of low quality polyester, too tight here, too baggy there or was just too expensive. It seemed impossible to find a quality dress shirt at an affordable price.
A visit to Hong Kong in 2009 sparked an idea. Here, a tailor made shirt cut and sewn from the same fabrics as high-end European luxury labels costs a fraction of the price compared to off the-rack business shirts at a traditional retail outlet. We realized then and there that we could offer customers the same premium quality dress shirts without large designer markups, but with the added advantages of customisation and exact made-to-measure fit. After some serious research and a grueling trip around Asia and Europe with little more than a translator app in hand, Joe Button was born. At Joe Button, our tailors are based in Hong Kong and have over 50 years of experience in bespoke shirt-making. We circumvent traditional retail channels and put the design process in the hands of our customers so that we can offer premium quality European cotton dress shirts at a starting price of $99.

Modi is a founder of Joe Button and heads up the team’s marketing and website usability. Prior to starting Joe Button, Modi spent six years in Corporate Finance at Deloitte as well as specializing in Financial Services Assurance & Advisory at KPMG. Modi has a B.Comm from the University of New South Wales and is a compulsive globetrotter, having lived and studied at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas in Austin and Tsinghua University in Beijing. |

Melissa is a founder of Joe Button and looks after all the numbers as well as ensuring Joe Button customers get exactly what they want. Melissa has a B.Comm from the University of New South Wales and is a qualified Chartered Accountant having previously worked at Deloitte Corporate Finance. Prior to starting Joe Button, Melissa depleted most of her seed capital travelling extensively throughout Eastern Europe. |

Tim is the team’s business development manager and looks after new partnerships and initiatives at Joe Button. Tim is the CEO of Airtasker, a community marketplace that lets people outsource everyday tasks. Before this, he was a founding investor in amaysim and a consultant at Chic Management, who represent leading names such as Miranda Kerr, Abbey Lee Kershaw and Alex Perry. Tim also founded motorsport events company Circuit Club and spent five years at Macquarie Capital Advisors. |
