What to Wear this Valentines Day

Posted by Joe Button on

February 14 is fast approaching and it’s important to put as much planning into your outfit as you do your date night. Women appreciate the small things, like a dozen roses or your matching pocket square. Don’t skimp on the details and you’ll be glad you didn’t when she obsesses over your perfect outfit.

We’ll cover some basic outfit suggestions but a general rule of thumb: don’t underdress. Get a feel for what she is thinking of wearing and match her in formality. No woman wants to feel overdressed or uncomfortable on a special occasion.

This should be a no-brainer but it’s important to show up to the date looking your absolute best and cleanest. Yes, that means showering, shaving, and maybe even a spritz of your signature cologne.

If you’re surprising your hunny for a casual daytime lunch we recommend a pair of straight-legged chinos paired with a chambray shirt. Throw on a rope belt, your favorite watch and some sunnies to complete the look. Casual but still sharp looking.

But let’s get to the good stuff. For the candle-lit romantic dinner you should pull out all the stops. Assuming she’ll be wearing a cocktail dress, throw on that tailored blazer over a nice pair of dark denim jeans. Wear a slim-fit dress shirt and a skinny tie to achieve an effortless look. Don’t be afraid to accessorise this look; make the dress shirt a fun print and add a matching pocket square.

For the more budget-conscious romantics, assume she’ll dress a little less formal. Wear straight cut dark denim paired with either a well-tailored blazer and knit sweater or v-neck sweater over a dress shirt. Our favorite accessory for this look is a textured wool tie - so original and chic. Add a belt, watch and don’t forget the shoes! Clean and polished is the way to her heart.

Finally, for the homebody couples don’t use your abode as an excuse to dress sloppy. Again, comfortable well-fitted jeans paired with a nice sweater and new socks (not your holey gym socks) will show her that you care.
Whatever you decide to wear, make sure it’s comfortable and your confidence will show
